There is a 200 year old tradition of taking out Shiva procession in Pithampur. Baba Kaleshwar Nath is taken on a tour of the city in a huge palanquin made of silver. This procession starts from the courtyard of Baba Kaleshwar Nath temple and travels throughout the city. After that, Maha Aarti is performed after bathing the idol on the banks of Hasdev river. After that the palanquin returns to the temple.

Pandits say that people believe that there are many benefits of having darshan of Kaleshwar Baba on Rang Panchami. The biggest benefit in this is that childless women get a child. If someone has chronic stomach related problem, it also goes away. This is the reason why people attend here in large numbers.

Naga Sadhus from different Akharas from all over the country come in this procession. They display bravery in their Akharas. The 15-day fair starts from the day of Rang Panchami after the procession of Baba Kaleshwar Nath in Pithampur. People from all over the state along with the district come here.
